Invisalign® orthodontic treatment is the newest, most innovative method of correcting problems with bite, teeth alignment or gaps between teeth. With Invisalign, you bypass the discomfort and unattractive appearance of metal braces and replace them with nearly invisible acrylic guides that fit over your teeth..

What Is Invisalign?

It’s a remarkable system of improving the alignment and placement of your teeth by using a series of clear acrylic aligners to gradually move your teeth into their ideal positions. These aligners are so nearly invisible that your friends and family may never even notice that you are receiving orthodontic treatment. The improvement resulting from Invisalign is identical to the result of metal braces without the discomfort of the metal brackets and wires. Plus, you won’t have trouble eating certain foods or keeping your teeth clean. That’s because Invisalign aligners can be removed for meals and cleaning. Invisalign generally aligns teeth more quickly than conventional metal braces.

Invisalign, a remarkable system for enhancing teeth alignment, utilizes a series of clear acrylic aligners to gently and gradually move your teeth into their ideal positions. These nearly invisible aligners ensure discreet orthodontic treatment, often going unnoticed by friends and family. The transformative outcomes achieved with Invisalign are comparable to traditional metal braces but eliminate the discomfort associated with metal brackets and wires.

Enjoy the freedom to eat without restrictions and maintain impeccable oral hygiene, as Invisalign trays can be effortlessly removed for meals and cleaning. Notably, Invisalign generally aligns teeth more quickly than conventional metal braces, providing an efficient and comfortable orthodontic experience. Embark on the journey to a beautifully aligned smile by scheduling your initial consultation at Smart Smile Dental.

How Invisalign Works

First, your dentist will make a careful examination of your teeth, mouth and bone structure to ensure you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment. The improvements you wish to make in your smile will be discussed. Then your treatment plan will begin.

We will take a scan of your teeth and images of your face and mouth and send these to Invisalign. Technicians at Invisalign begin to plan the series of aligners that will gently ease your teeth into their proper position. Your custom aligners are sent back to us. You’ll come see and will show you how to use them.

You’ll check back with one of our dentists from time to time to ensure that all is going well, but you’ll skip the frequent appointments required to tighten metal braces every couple of weeks.

Every one to two weeks, you’ll stop using one aligner and start using the next one in the series. The number of aligners you receive depends on the degree of alignment your smile requires.

First, during your dental checkup, your dentist will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, mouth, and bone structure to determine your eligibility for Invisalign treatment. Together, you'll discuss the improvements you desire for straight teeth and a brighter smile. Then, your personalized treatment plan will commence.

We will create a scan of your teeth and capture images of your face and mouth, forwarding them to Invisalign. Skilled technicians at Invisalign will meticulously plan the series of clear aligners tailored to gently guide your teeth into their proper position. Your custom aligners will be returned to us, and during your next visit, we'll provide you with detailed instructions on how to use them.

Throughout the process, you'll have periodic check-ins with one of our dentists to ensure the smooth progress of your treatment. Unlike traditional metal braces that require frequent tightening appointments, Invisalign offers a more convenient and comfortable approach.

Invisalign vs. Metal Braces

When you were growing up, you undoubtedly saw many of your friends wearing metal braces, sometimes for years. For both teens and adults, Invisalign eliminates the problems associated with metal braces, including:

  • The discomfort of metal brackets and wires inside the mouth
  • Soft tissue injuries resulting from these wires
  • Allergic reactions to the metal or latex parts
  • Tooth decay resulting from the difficulty of keeping teeth clean
  • Changes to the roots of teeth that damage the viability of those teeth
  • The necessity of avoiding many types of foods

Invisalign clear aligners are clean acrylic trays that are easy to slip on and off your teeth. You can brush and floss your teeth normally every day. Because you take them off when you eat, your choices of food and drink are not restricted. Thus you eliminate these discomforts and causes of damage to the teeth.

When reminiscing about your youth, you likely witnessed friends enduring years with traditional metal braces. Invisalign offers a revolutionary alternative for both teens and adults, addressing the common issues associated with metal braces. These include discomfort of metal brackets and wires, potential soft tissue injuries, allergic reactions, difficulties in maintaining oral hygiene, and the necessity to avoid certain foods.

In contrast, Invisalign clear aligners, made of smooth plastic, gradually shift misaligned teeth without causing discomfort or damage. Their easy removal facilitates regular brushing and flossing, allowing you to enjoy a wider range of food and drink choices without restrictions. The discrete nature of Invisalign aligners ensures that your orthodontic journey is seamless and comfortable. Experience the convenience and comfort of Invisalign at Smart Smile Dental, where we prioritize your dental well-being and confidence. Schedule your initial consultation to explore the transformative possibilities for your smile.

FAQ about Invisalign

  • What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a way of straightening your teeth. It's a modern way of straightening your teeth without brackets and wires and fixing your bite. Basically, it's super easy. You just wear some plastic trays and your teeth straighten out.

  • How does Invisalign compare to traditional braces?

Invisalign is very quick and easy and it is not painful at all. You just wear some trays and not have a bunch of metal hardware in your mouth. My patients love it and their teeth straighten and they absolutely love their smiles. They can brush, floss, eat, do whatever they want, and it's so much easier than traditional braces for them.

  • Is Invisalign really faster than braces?

Invisalign, yes, it is really faster than braces because, you know, people are a lot more compliant. Stuff is not breaking, their brackets or their wires are not breaking, and basically, even if a tray breaks you just switch to the next tray and you move on and it goes by really fast.

  • Why is Invisalign often considered more comfortable than braces?

Invisalign is a lot more comfortable than braces because the mouth is not being poked by wires or metal braces. You don't have to adapt your lifestyle of eating or watch what you eat and things like that, so it's a lot more comfortable and easy.

  • How long does Invisalign take to straighten teeth?

It depends on the situation that you're in, but it could be as quick as six months to maybe a year, year and a half, or two years depending on your particular situation. But the average case is about a year long or so.

  • What is the process involved in Invisalign treatment?

Basically, it's very easy. We just take some photos of you, photos of your teeth, and then I design the case for you. We look it over together and then we give you some trays to wear. We do a little bit of work on your teeth, which is completely painless. No shots are necessary, no pain at all, and that's about it. Then you get started and all you have to do is wear your trays.

  • What are Invisalign trays and how many will you need?

Invisalign trays are just like, you know, these clear aligners or clear retainers that you wear. How many will depend on your particular case. How long is more important and, like I said, the average case is about a year long or so.

  • Do I sleep with Invisalign?

    Yes, you do.

  • Is there anything that could disqualify me from using Invisalign?

Well, we just have to make sure that you don't have any disease process going on like cavities, infected teeth, gum disease, those kinds of things. Those have to be treated first. And then almost everybody qualifies for Invisalign unless, you know, you're about to lose your teeth or something.

  • Can Invisalign fix crossbite?

Yes, Invisalign can fix crossbite, depends on how severe it is. We can always take a look at your particular case, but I have fixed many cases with crossbite. Not every case can be fixed with Invisalign, but neither can they be fixed with braces. It's likely a surgical case.

  • Is Invisalign painful?

No, Invisalign is not painful at all. At the most, there is just a little bit of an adjustment period in the beginning when you have to start wearing your trays. It's more like establishing your routine, but other than that, it's very easy.

  • Can I still get Invisalign if I have gum disease or cavities?

If you have a lot of gum disease or cavities, they need to be treated first. You would not be disqualified, but we need to make you healthy before we do your Invisalign treatment.

We would love to see you for a free consultation to answer questions specific to you. You can give us a call today at (714) 744-1242 to schedule your free consultation.

  • Do most dental insurance cover the cost of Invisalign?

It depends on every single insurance and if you have coverage for orthodontics or not. We definitely help you out with that. We help you check that out. And if you don't have coverage for Invisalign orthodontics, then we give you very significant discounts to compensate for that. So either way, it's a win-win situation.

  • Does Medicaid cover Invisalign?

It depends on what kind of insurance you have through Medicaid. To my knowledge, it doesn't cover it, but again, if you give us your insurance information, your specific insurance information, we can look it up and tell you exactly what your coverage is.

  • How much does Invisalign cost without dental insurance?

Invisalign ranges in cost from case to case, but an average case could be anywhere from $3,700 to $7,700. It depends on what's going on with you, if you just need slight fixing or, you know, you need a lot happening. So it kind of depends on your situation and we will always customize the cost to your particular case.

  • How can I schedule an appointment to talk with a dentist about Invisalign?

We do offer free consultations for Invisalign. It's very easy. You just call (714) 744-1242 and schedule an appointment for a free consultation. And we will explain everything to you—your insurance, the cost, how long it'll take for you, how many trays, what your exact case will be like. You know, we like to show you what your smile can be like. So it's super easy. Go ahead and schedule, just give us a call.
